The Noah Hershkowitz Early Career Award is an initiative from Plasma Sources Science and Technology (PSST), which acknowledges a researcher who early in his/her career has demonstrated excellence and innovation in their research on topics published by PSST. Trevor Lafleur, currently postdoctoral researcher at LPP is the 2016 Hershkowitz Early Career Award winner.
Trevor obtained his PhD in plasma physics from the Australian National University in 2011. In 2012 he joined LPP at the Ecole Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France) as a postdoctoral researcher, and has been involved in a number of projects with different groups within LPP and also with ONERA (The French Aerospace Laboratory). Trevor has worked on tailored voltage waveform RF capacitive plasmas, their influence on ion velocity flux distributions and electron heating mechanisms, as well as the development of two new plasma propulsion concepts.
Since 2015 he has been involved in research supported by CNES to investigate Hall effect plasma thrusters. His research interests include fundamental and applied plasma physics, plasma propulsion for space applications, and numerical simulation of plasmas. He has published 53 articles (893 citations ; h-index = 17), and given 6 invited talks at international conferences.
