Title : Introduction to Machine Learning and Applications to Space Plasma Physics

Abstract :
Data science is fast growing and ever changing discipline. Machine learning and deep learning techniques are used in many industries and have proven to reach human level performance.
In this presentation, we will discuss the different types of problems that can be solved using these techniques, and show examples of application in space plasma physics. We will also talk about the fundamental principles to be aware of when building a model. We will point to popular tools used in the data science community for data exploration and model development. Finally, for those interested, we will reference resources helpful to get started in data science, stay up to date with new techniques, or go deeper into the understanding of particular methods.
