11h00: Séminaire: Fluid and hybrid simulations of core fusion instabilities

Abstract:
The XTOR-K code couples an extended (2-fluid) MHD solver to a 6D PIC solver using a Boris-Buneman algorithm. The fluid part is routinely used for internal kink and tearing studies. The kinetic part is self-consistently coupled to the fluid part using Picard iterations.
In this presentation, we will first present the implicit scheme used in the code, and sum up the physical results they have helped obtaining in the past years. The second part of the presentation will focus on the development of the hybrid part, and in particular the development of collisions.
