Cormac Corr (ANU) - The MAGnetised Plasma Interaction Experiment (MAGPIE): a new source for plasma-material interaction studies

Palaiseau, CMPA, Aile 0, 2ème etage

To answer fundamental questions about the science of plasma-surface interactions at the complex fusion boundary a new purpose-built linear plasma device, the “MAGnetised Plasma Interaction Experiment” (MAGPIE), has been constructed at the Australian National University (ANU) to test materials under aggressive plasma conditions. Our aim is to resolve science issues of extreme plasma-surface interactions to guide and facilitate future fusion materials development. In this seminar I will present an overview of this new research venture at the ANU and our initial experiments on MAGPIE.
