The recommendations below are intended for members of the LPP, but they can be generalized quite easily for any use of computers.
By using the resources of the LPP, you agree to comply with the operating rules of the LPP and of the various establishments that host us, including the acceptance of the corresponding IT charters that you can find on our intranet under the "Informatique" section.
In particular, it is totally forbidden to connect external machines (eg personal computer) to the wired network of the LPP.
In addition, here are some general recommendations :
Security general rules
Good operation of all IT system is very important and we ask you all to help us to maintain it by observing all usual IT good practices :
– use your common sense and personal intuition
– check as best as you can the identity of the sender
– type your password only on web pages that you are sure of
– do not ever give your password, even to the LPP IT team
– do not click randomly on unfamiliar links or attachments.
– do not install the VPN on a personal computer, only LPP computer
– be sure to stay within the framework of the law by not installing software which you do not have the license, do not download, store or share illegally files (movies, music or other kind of protected content).
In case of doubt about a web page or e-mail, ask the LPP IT team who will be able to give you an advice.
There is no silly question, especially when it comes to security.
Rush and stress are our enemies.
We are listening to you.
If you feel having given your password to a pirate, contact immediately the LPP IT team.
Credentials theft : aka phishing
WARNING :
Phishing campaigns are frequent and sometimes imitate an official e-mail very well ! Under no circumstances should you enter your credentials (LPP, CNRS, Polytechnique, SU or other) on an unidentified and unknown site.
In case you got trapped contact the LPP IT team ASAP.
Regarding the theft of credentials, if an e-mail asks you to go to a website to "verify" your identifiers : CAUTION !
Even if the link seems legitimate, it is almost always a fraud. It’s very easy for dishonest people to disguise a link behind a text that looks fine
⇨ ALWAYS check the URL behind a link, regardless of the text or the front image.
Use common sense without moderation : Your employer, our tutelles, your bank, the IT team of the LPP ... already know you !
Why would they ask you to verify your credentials ?
Because the wolf has put flour on its feet and pretends to be mommy goat.
Don’t let him in ! ;)
Do not hesitate to contact us in case of doubt.
We are counting on your vigilance
The last thing we need is a computer attack.
Regarding viruses, computers are like humans : they transmit them to each other.
One of you just has to make a mistake and your colleagues’ computers will be affected too.
Should this happened we would have to take measures to secure the LPP network by cutting off remote access and stopping the servers and the services they host if necessary, until the problem is solved.
We therefore count on you to comply with all the instructions sent in our various emails.
Particularly with regard to passwords and the use of remote access which is only allowed from a LPP computer.
Thank you for your common sense, your vigilance,
LPP IT team
