ESA Solar Orbiter mission : French Space Agency (CNES) decides to finance the French participation that comprises LPP contribution to two experiments

This mission of the ESA cosmic vision program is to be launched in 2017. By approaching it unless 42 million kilometers, Solar Orbiter will be almost 4 times closer of the Sun that the Earth is, to study source regions of the solar wind as well as its polar regions. It will provide unique information to understand better its functioning and its variability, thanks to both in situ and remote measurements (by imaging). The LPP contributes to the RPW (Radio and Plasma Waves), for wave measurements, under the responsibility of the LESIA ( Meudon) and in the electron spectrometer experiment SWA (Solar Wind Analyser) which is under the responsibility of MSSL (London) (Solar Orbiter). The administrative board of the CNES has just approved the French participation in this mission.
