Dr Nadira Frescaline defended her accreditation to supervise research on “Microbial invasion of the skin : new diagnostic modalities and treatment approaches”

On the 14th of April, 2021 the Université Paris-Saclay awarded Dr Nadira Frescaline, who works in the low-temperature plasma group at LPP, with the accreditation to supervise research. In France, this is considered the highest qualification, which remains a core concept of scholarly and academic career. Dr Frescaline is a clinical practitioner with strong interests in both fundamental and translational science. Having obtained her doctoral degree in science from the University of Adelaide, Australia she continued her academic research career in France.

Over the years Dr Frescaline worked on a number of investigative research projects. This included the use of neutralizing antibodies in pre-clinical models of cutaneous tissue repair, testing the effect of agonist compounds on skin fibrosis and application of cold atmospheric plasma in infected burn wounds. Her future research interests include the development of rapid diagnostic tests based on sampling of pre-symptomatic markers of infectious diseases in dermal interstitial fluid.
