DeepMagIC, an extreme miniaturized electronic circuit (ASIC), have made the headlines at the CNRS website.

Instrumentation used in space missions is challenged by extreme miniaturization ! A strong and fruitful collaboration between LPP and L2E has resulted in the first design and development of an extreme miniaturized electronic circuit (ASIC : Application Specific Integrated Circuit) to be used in space instrumentations. The circuit is called "DeepMagIC", an acronym for DEtEctor of Particles and MAGnetometer Integrated Circuit. The volume of this circuit is reduced by a factor 1/1000 compared to traditional space electronics. This extreme scaling has made the frontpage of the CNRS website (National Center for Scientific Research).

The LPP aims to replace their conventional electronics by the DeepMagIC.
DeepMagIC fulfils two essential functions of plasma instrumentation :

- It pre-amplifies low noise and low frequency signals and allows to measure the magnetic component in the electromagnetic wave propagating in the ambient space plasmas.

- It is able to determine the charge of the particles for mass spectrometry.

It also allows radiation levels higher than 300 kRad.
DeepMagIC is proposed for two upcoming space missions : the Solar Orbiter probe and the EJMS exploration mission to Jupiter’s moons.
