LPP participation
LPP contributes to two experiments amoung the six that will fly on the MMO probe: Plasma Wave Instrument (PWI) and Mercury Plasma Particle Experiment (MPPE).
LPP provides the broadband fluxmeter DBSC (Dual Band Search Coil), part of the AC magnetometer SCM (Search Coil Magnetometer ) which is a component of the PWI instrument for measuring rapid fluctuation (wave) of the magnetic field, and the ion spectrometer MSA (Mass Spectrum Analyzer), part of MPPE consortium.
In 2013, The flight models have been tested and delivered to JAXA. They are being integrated on the probe. The launch is scheduled in July 2016 for an arrival at Mercury in 2024. The scientific data processing software are in preparation. In parallel, the overall three-dimensional numerical simulations of Mercury environment are being prepared for data interpretation.
